Shops and contractors hire welders by their certifications and the welds they can pass. Put your processes, positions and certifications where a supervisor sees them first.

Tips for a welder resume

  • List every certification. AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, 6G pipe and any company or union certifications, with positions.
  • Name your processes and metals. SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW on carbon steel, stainless or aluminum.
  • Show weld quality. X-ray or ultrasonic pass rates prove your welds hold up.
  • Say what you build. Structural steel, pipe, pressure vessels, heavy equipment or shop fabrication; shop or field.
  • Add fit-up and safety. Blueprint reading, layout, cutting, OSHA 10 and TWIC for refinery or port work.
