How to Cancel Your Resume Genius Subscription
Stop the renewal, ask for a refund, and keep your resume.
Short answer: sign in to Resume Genius and go to My Account → My Subscription → Cancel Subscription. You can also cancel by phone at (866) 215-9048, by email at support@resumegenius.com, or through the live chat on its site.
Cancel at least a day before your 14-day trial ends. After the trial, Resume Genius charges $23.95 every 4 weeks until you cancel.
How to cancel, step by step
- Download your resume first. Resume Genius's terms say that after you cancel, you can only view your documents, not download, print or edit them. Download your resume as PDF and Word while your plan is active.
- Sign in at resumegenius.com with the email you used to sign up.
- Click "My Account" in the menu at the top right, then open My Subscription.
- Click "Cancel Subscription" and follow the prompts. You may be offered a discount to stay. If you still want to cancel, keep going until the page says the subscription is cancelled.
- Keep the confirmation. Save the confirmation email and take a screenshot. If you're charged again, this is your proof.
- Check your next card or bank statement for any new Resume Genius charge after the date you cancelled.
Cancelling stops future charges. Resume Genius's terms say it takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for.
Cancel by phone or email
If you'd rather talk to someone, call (866) 215-9048. Or email support@resumegenius.com with the subject "Cancel my subscription", and include the email address on your account and the date and amount of your last charge. Keep the reply.
How to ask for a refund
| Free plan download | TXT (plain text) for resumes; cover letters download free in any format |
|---|---|
| Trial | $2.95 for 14 days |
| After the trial | Renews automatically at $23.95 every 4 weeks until you cancel |
| Annual plan | $95.40 a year, renewing yearly |
| First year if the trial is never cancelled | $314.30 |
| Refunds | Resume Genius says it will refund in full if you ask within 14 days. Its terms say it "may" refund customers still in their 14-day term. |
Resume Genius asks you to request a refund by phone, email or live chat. If you were just charged and didn't mean to keep the subscription, ask straight away. A short, clear request works best:
Hello, I cancelled my subscription on [date]. Please refund the charge of [amount] on [date] to the card ending [last 4 digits]. My account email is [email]. Thank you.
If you don't get an answer, or the refund is refused and you think the charge is wrong, call the number on the back of your card. Your bank can explain your options for a disputed charge.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my resume if I cancel Resume Genius?
You can still view it, but Resume Genius's terms say you can't download, print or edit it after you cancel. The free plan downloads resumes only as plain text. Download a PDF and Word copy before you cancel.
What is the Resume Genius phone number for cancelling?
Resume Genius lists (866) 215-9048 in its terms. You can also email support@resumegenius.com or use the live chat on its site.
Can I cancel during the trial?
Yes. Cancelling during the 14-day trial stops the first $23.95 renewal. Cancel at least a day before the trial ends to be safe.
I cancelled but was charged again. What should I do?
Contact Resume Genius with your cancellation confirmation and ask for a refund of the charge. If that doesn't work, contact your bank or card issuer.
Is there a resume builder without a subscription?
Yes. Resume Star has no trial and no subscription: you can download your resume as a PDF for free, as often as you like. See Resume Genius alternatives with no subscription.
